Forged documents detected at border crossings

Border police officers detected 24 travel documents with signs of forgery over the past week. The cases occurred both on entry and exit from the Republic of Moldova.

Thus, at Leușeni checkpoint 9 cases were recorded, Sculeni – 1 case, Otaci – 4 cases, Criva – 1 case, Ocnița – 1 case, Costești – 3 cases, Palanca – 1 case, Giurgiulești-Galați – 1 case and Chișinău International Airport – 3 cases.

All the suspicious documents were seized and sent for expert examination, and investigations are ongoing to establish all the circumstances.

In this context, the Border Police warn that the use or presentation of forged travel documents at the state border crossing is considered a crime and is punishable under national legislation.

The border authority urges citizens to use only valid travel documents issued by the competent state authorities and not to resort to dubious intermediaries to obtain travel documents.
