Commercial spaces at Chisinau International Airport to be managed directly by enterprise

The commercial spaces at Chisinau International Airport (AIC) starting from 1 March 2025 will be directly managed by the enterprise. The interim administrator of AIC, Sergiu Spoiala, and the director of the Public Property Agency, Roman Cojuhari, have made statements to this effect at a news conference on plans for the development of the Chisinau International Airport and improving services for passengers.

The authorities will no longer organize auctions for duty-free spaces, as, according to Cojuhari, the AIC’s administration can handle this responsibility, especially after the enterprise recorded a significant profit last year. "The team at the Airport manages very well the actual administration of the Airport. We are sure that they will create a team capable of managing these spaces and getting higher revenues in the state budget", Cojuhari highlighted.

"We are entering a new phase in the evolution of the Airport infrastructure. We come with a diversified and quality bid for passengers, through fair and competitive prices. Also, it concerns the transparent management of revenues, which will be reinvested and an efficient financial circuit - revenues will return to the state budget," said Sergiu Spoiala.

Returned to state administration two years ago, last year, the Chisinau Airport got a profit of 336 million lei and it is estimated to contribute 105.6 million lei to the public budget.

Last year, the Public Property Agency organized three auctions for leasing spaces at AIC, but without success.
