Moldova Digital Summit 2025 kicks off in Chișinău
The Republic of Moldova has made remarkable progress in digitalization and is no longer just a consumer of IT technologies but also a generator of solutions and products in this field. This message was delivered today by Prime Minister Dorin Recean at the opening of Moldova Digital Summit 2025, which is the main technology and innovation conference in Eastern Europe. The official emphasized that digital transformation is no longer an option, but an absolute necessity for economic success.
The event organized in Chișinău on June 5-7 gathers decision-makers from the country and abroad, leaders in the digital industry, technological innovators, and investors to explore the latest advances and investment opportunities shaping the digital future.
The Moldova Digital Summit began with a minute of silence in memory of great composer Eugen Doga, who is being laid to rest today.
Recean said that Moldova Digital Summit is one of the most important events of its kind in the entire region. According to him, we are living in a time where weeks are worth as much as years in technological evolution, especially in the field of artificial intelligence. Progress is happening at an unprecedented speed and influences the entire society, necessitating the harnessing of technologies for the benefit of all, the official asserted.
“A few hours ago we returned from Brussels, and we feel that this is among the last editions of this event organized before we become members of the European Union. Moldova has not been just a consumer of IT technologies and solutions for a long time. I am proud that we have so many solutions and products generated here, at home. We are living in a time where weeks are worth as much as years in technological evolution, especially in the field of artificial intelligence. Progress is happening at an unprecedented speed and influences the entire society. This acceleration compels us to ask a simple but fundamental question: how do we ensure that we not only keep up but also harness these technologies for the benefit of everyone. Not just for those in IT, but also in industry, agriculture, education, medicine, public administration. Digital transformation is no longer an option, it is an absolute necessity for economic success and relevance here in the country, as well as internationally. In this context, non-IT businesses need your help, they need to know how to increase their productivity, efficiency, how to be competitive. And here, I count on you, to help non-IT businesses adopt IT solutions, especially artificial intelligence. We have great potential to grow,” remarked Dorin Recean.
The Prime Minister stated that the Republic of Moldova has made remarkable progress in the digitalization of public services. “We still have a lot of work to do here, so that all public services, both for businesses and citizens, are digitized,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Dorin Recean added that Moldova's European path involves not only legislative and institutional reforms but also the adoption of new high digital standards, complex informational systems, and technology infrastructure compatible with that of the EU.
According to the organizers, Moldova Digital Summit 2025 is meant to redefine Moldova's digital landscape by bringing together top innovators, industry leaders, and decision-makers for an engaging three-day experience. The current edition focuses on unlocking new digital opportunities, promoting collaboration, and generating a real impact across all industries. The event's agenda includes participation by international speakers, presentations of innovative products, practical workshops, and strategic B2B meetings designed to stimulate innovation and accelerate growth.
Statistical data shows that the information technology industry contributes over 8 percent to our country's GDP and is a real engine of economic development.
