Road fund increased by one billion lei; Moldovan government rules on how money to be used
The road fund has been increased by one billion lei, which means that, in 2025, its size will reach 2.7 billion lei. The government today ruled how this money will be used, approving changes to the Program on the distribution of road fund means for national public roads for the 2025 year.
At the government meeting, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea said that the main goal of the project resided in the redistribution of financial means between expenditure chapters and the additional inclusion of some regional road sectors with the index "G", which involve repair works on a length of about 123 kilometers.
"For this purpose, the road fund budget for 2025 has been supplemented by one billion lei, meant for the maintenance and repair works of national public roads and their engineering constructions. This will allow for maintaining road infrastructure at the necessary standards, in order to ensure the movement in conditions of maximal safety," said Vladimir Bolea.
The official noted that each infrastructure project promoted by the government aimed to consistently improve the living standards of citizens from Moldova.
In late last May, Prime Minister Dorin Recean informed that, this year, an unprecedented budget of 3.2 billion lei would be allocated for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and maintenance of roads in Moldova. For regional roads, 2.7 billion lei will be available through the Road Fund, and an additional 500 million lei has been included in the PLUS Budget for local roads.
