Designing of work on Bender-Basarabeasca railway segment finished in Moldova
Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/ - The designing of the capital works on the railway segment Bender-Basarabeasca has been finished and the project for the segment Basarabeasca-Giurgiulesti will be finished soon. Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu unveiled information to this effect. Spinu today covered 230 km of railway, in order to see the progress of the repair works on the Tighina-Causeni-Basarabeasca-Etulia-Giurgiulesti railway segment.
According to the ministry, so far, certain devices were replaced at the stations, Cainari, Zloti, Cimislia, Basarabeasca, Abaclia, Ceadar-Lunga, Taraclia and their replacement is to be made at the stations Greceni, Vulcanesti and Etulia. Also, 19,600 sleepers were replaced.
„I stopped at the Etulia station. I spoke to workers and visited the station’s command centre. Everything is obsolete and the traffic management systems are from 1970s. We are to modernize these old systems as well. I thanked the Moldovan Railway workers for their dedication and daily work they carry out. Along with the European partners, we will bring the railway from our country at the European standards. Together, we edify the European Moldova,’’ Andrei Spinu noted.
The Tighina-Causeni-Basarabeasca-Etulia-Giurgiulesti railway segment is one of the most crowded railway segments from Moldova, as it ensures the transit of goods from such states as Romania, Ukraine. The segment’s rehabilitation is to be carried out on a distance of about 233 km, with the support of foreign partners and the finishing of the works is scheduled for 2025.
