Energocom purchased electricity at average price of 109 euro/MWh in April

In April, Energocom purchased approximately 339 thousand MWh of electricity, both from the domestic market and imports, at average price of 109.18 euro/MWh.

The purchase costs do not include taxes and expenses associated with transportation, logistics, and capacity reservation.

Energocom announced that out of the total energy purchased in April, imports accounted for a majority of 68.56%, while domestic producers contributed 31.44%.

Energy was imported from Romania at a preferential price, covering 11.93% of consumption. Another 36.65% was delivered based on bilateral contracts with foreign suppliers.

According to Energocom, following the disconnection for maintenance of Vulcănești–Isaccea 400 kV power line between April 23-25 and April 28-30, 2025, the company managed to cover the electricity needs through purchases from producers in Ukraine.

Domestically, the CETs in Chișinău and Bălți supplied 40.49 thousand MWh, which also equals 11.93%, while production from renewable sources amounted to nearly 66.2 thousand MWh – 19.51% of the total. To maintain balance in the energy system, 19.98% of the energy was purchased from OPCOM and BRM.

Since January 1, 2025, the right bank of the Dniester no longer receives electricity from Cuciurgan Power Station, after the Russian Gazprom halted natural gas deliveries to the Republic of Moldova. In these conditions, consumption is covered by internal and import sources.
