Prime Minister: Government stands by citizens during cold season through Meter Aid Program
The government is standing by citizens during this cold season through the Meter Aid program, says Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. Through this initiative, 605,538 households, which consist of 1,216,000 people, will receive compensation from the state.
According to the Prime Minister, more than half of the total number of applicants will receive the maximum compensation amount – 800 lei for solid fuels and 1,000 lei for other energy sources.
Payments will be transferred today for those who indicated in their application that they wish to receive them on their bank or social card. For those who did not provide this information, payments will be available starting Monday, December 15, at post offices across the country, upon presentation of an identification card.
The National Social Insurance House (CNAS) announced today that it has funded the energy compensation, provided as a monetary payment for November 2025. The allocated amount is 454.4 million lei. The money will reach 605,538 eligible households. Beneficiaries can collect the money after payment processing through the government electronic payment service MPay.
Meter Aid program offers, for the fourth consecutive year, energy compensations to vulnerable households from November to March. The compensations are provided as a monetary payment, paid monthly. The estimated budget for granting compensations is 2.3 billion lei, resources which will be allocated from the state budget.
People who have not yet submitted requests for compensation can still do so, but will not receive compensation for November. If the request was submitted after the 25th of the month, compensations will be granted starting the following month.
