Chisinau, 9 August /MOLDPRES/ - The French Group Diam International is set to open in Moldova a factory for producing elements of advertising design, used by networks of shops for the promotion of goods sold. The director general of the Group, Benjamin Bullmer, made statements to this effect at a today’s meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Economics and Infrastructure Minister Octavian Calmic.

After considering opportunities provided by states from the region, the leadership of the Group Diam International identified Moldova as a state with the most attractive opportunities in the region, with a potential of development in the long run. “Moreover, Moldova is presently the only country which provides possibilities of free trade both with the EU market and with the one of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), - a very important thing for our Group of companies,” Benjamin Bullmer said.

The project provides for the construction of a factory with about 100 jobs and the new employees will be trained at one of the Group’s factories placed in Turkey. At present, Diam International has 25 production locations in 21 states, where more than 2,000 employees work.

Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic welcomed the decision by Group Diam International to make investments in Moldova. He noted that, during the last year, the Moldovan government had implemented a string of programmes and strategies to create an attractive investment climate for the business environment, including by cutting the number of control bodies, establishing customs and tax facilities for foreign investors who work in free economic zones or industrial parks, reducing the number of permissive acts.

“By the signing of free trade agreements with the European Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States, Moldova became a linking bridge between the West and the East, which facilitates the free movement of goods, increase in commercial exchanges between different partners,” Calmic added.
