Diaspora at Home Succeeds DAR 1+3 Programme: Moldovan government allocates 10 million lei for 33 local development projects

The government has ruled to allocate 10 million lei for the implementation of 33 local development projects through the Diaspora at Home Succeeds DAR 1+3 Programme.

The initiatives to be implemented were included in a decision approved by the government today. They were selected following a competition. The value of the projects ranges between 200,000 lei and 348,000 lei. They target more areas, such as infrastructure development, environmental protection, energy efficiency, culture, education and social protection.

At the cabinet meeting, Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu, said that 123 applications had been submitted at the competition, of which 113 projects were eligible. “These are small projects, but with a big heart,” underlined Alexei Buzu.

With the financial resources allocated through the Diaspora at Home Succeeds DAR 1+3 Programme, a multifunctional mini-tractor will be purchased in the village of Cimiseni, Criuleni district; a biomass boiler house will be built for the Geamana Gymnasium in Anenii Noi; and solar panels with a capacity of 60 kW will be installed on the roof of the “Prichindel” kindergarten in Sipoteni, Calarasi district. At the same time, a modern park with an open-air stage will be arranged in the village of Badragii Noi in Edinet district; the cafeteria block of the Bahmut Gymnasium in Calarasi will be repaired; and the infrastructure of the administrative and economic center of the village of Copceac, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, will be modernized through roads’ rehabilitation and the construction of sidewalks.

According to the draft decision, the Finance Ministry will finance the expenses for project activities under the Diaspora at Home Succeeds DAR 1+3 Programme,  based on payment documents submitted by the beneficiaries of the financial resources to the regional treasuries. Beneficiaries are required to use the budget allocations by the end of the 2026 budget year.

The DAR 1+3 Programme is an initiative that encourages the Diaspora to invest in the economic and social development of Moldova. Projects’ funding is carried out based on the 1+3 formula: the Diaspora, the government of Moldova, local public authorities and development partners. Since 2020, more than 200 local development projects have been implemented through this programme.
