Moldova Digital Summit 2026 starts in Chișinău

The 15th edition of the Moldova Digital Summit began today in Chișinău. This is the most important event in the Republic of Moldova dedicated to digital transformation and innovation, bringing together technology leaders, government partners, opinion makers, start-ups and international partners to discuss digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and the future of the digital economy.

For two days, Chișinău becomes the digital capital of the region, positioning the Republic of Moldova as a regional hub for digital innovation and emerging technologies. On June 5–6, Arena Chișinău becomes the meeting point for leaders in technology, government, innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and digital transformation experts from the Republic of Moldova and across the region.

From artificial intelligence, fintech, cybersecurity and digital identity to digital public services, cloud infrastructure and tech education, Moldova Digital Summit highlights the technologies and ideas that are shaping the future of our economy and society.

The event was opened by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu.

Marta Kos said that the Republic of Moldova is already a success story in the digital field.

“As far as digital services are concerned, you have a competitive advantage. This is a sector in which Moldovan talent is already successfully competing at the European level. It is a sector that generates prosperity here in Moldova. It is a sector in which young people can build solid careers without having to leave the country. This is the basis for economic convergence with the European Union that we are working towards,” the official said.

Marta Kos added that the digital sector is an example of Moldova’s potential.

“It symbolizes precisely the kind of transformation we want to see across the entire Moldovan economy through our Growth Plan — a sustainable path to prosperity for all. (...) Because if Moldova can create companies that compete with the best in Europe in the digital sector, there is no reason why this should not be possible across the entire economy,” the Commissioner said.

The official stressed that Moldova’s challenge is not a lack of talent, but the creation of a level playing field and access to the same opportunities.

“This is, in essence, the meaning of European Union integration. This is Moldova we are building together. Moldova of equal treatment, equal opportunities and equal rights. Full membership of the European Union will give you all of this,” she underlined.

At the same time, Marta Kos praised the reforms carried out by the Republic of Moldova to advance on its European path.

“For me, the European Union is the most successful project ever achieved in the world. And now we have another important project: integrating Moldova into this successful project, the European Union. This process can be accelerated by developing the digital sector,” the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement concluded.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu said that the Republic of Moldova aims to become a leader in digital technologies.

“Our ambition is not only to join the European Union, but to contribute to building Europe’s digital future,” the head of Government said.

“Technology has not only changed our lives. It has changed everything. Digital transformation is not about computers. It is about creating an inclusive environment, about allowing citizens to access services faster and enabling companies to grow at an accelerated pace. For us, digitalization is not just a technological choice. It is a choice for competitiveness, transparency, resilience and for Europe. We choose to compete not through size, but through talent,” the official said.

At the same time, Munteanu stressed the need to attract investment into the Republic of Moldova in order to accelerate economic development. “We need to develop our infrastructure. We need to bring our universities up to European level and make them more dynamic. And of course, we need to attract investment in these areas. We are already investing a lot and we must invest even more. So let us build the future together,” Alexandru Munteanu concluded.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmochescu said that the Republic of Moldova has managed to become an example for other states in the field of digitalization. Currently, 78% of public services are digitalized, and for citizen-targeted services the share is around 56%.

“There is still much to be done in the near future. We need your strength, expertise and analytical capacity. We will make all necessary efforts, without ceasing, to create the tools that will enable experimentation and innovation. We will continue to advance these reforms with firmness and determination,” Osmochescu assured.

Moldova Digital Summit is organized by the National Association of ICT Companies, Tekwill, the e-Governance Agency, Moldova Innovation Technology Park and Moldova Investment Agency, with the support of strategic partners and international organizations, under the patronage of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization.
