Fuels continue to get cheaper
Gasoline and diesel fuel continue to get cheaper. Tomorrow, drivers will pay up to 0.68 lei less for fuel, according to the new prices published by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE).
Thus, on Wednesday, June 3, diesel will cost 27.72 lei, which is 0.68 lei less than today. At the same time, the price of gasoline will decrease by 0.64 lei, down to 30.03 lei.
At the end of last week, ANRE announced that it has observed an increasingly pronounced trend of decreasing maximum retail prices for standard gasoline and diesel. According to the institution, this drop is driven by a sharp decline in international oil quotations, amid reports of a possible agreement between the United States of America and Iran regarding the extension of the truce and the assurance of free maritime transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
As a result, the Brent crude oil price fell during the current session below 92 USD/barrel, marking one of the most significant drops in recent months. The same downward trend has been recorded for Platts quotations for refined petroleum products: gasoline and diesel.
Given that the Republic of Moldova is entirely dependent on imports of petroleum products, these developments inevitably affect retail prices on the domestic market. For example, compared to the historical peak recorded in April, the current price of standard diesel is 6.58 lei per liter lower, reflecting a stabilization of the fuel market, according to ANRE data.
