Railway of Moldova enterprises starts receiving next batch of diesel from state reserve
The Railway of Moldova state enterprise (CFM) today started receiving the next 250 tons of diesel from the State Reserve, delivered by the Agency for Material Reserves based on government's order.
According to CFM, the first batch of diesel from the state reserve, amounting to 250 tons, was used for the transportation of 84,500 tons of goods, performing maneuvering operations and carriage of passengers. "These activities generated revenues of 16.4 million lei, used for the payment of wage arrears to employees for August 2024," the source noted.
"The diesel received today is stored at the enterprise's branches in Chisinau, Ocnita, Balti, Ungheni and Basarabeasca, in order to ensure the transportation of goods and passengers, with revenues intended to accumulate the necessary salary fund of around 30 million lei for paying employees’ salaries for September 2024," CFM noted.
The institution says that, despite all difficulties, CFM continues to identify financial mechanisms to cover salaries, operational expenses and mandatory payments, implementing efficiency measures in all sectors managed, in order to increase transport revenues and ensure financial stability.
The government's decision to support Moldova Railway with diesel was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea when introducing the new director of CFM, Sergiu Cotelnic.
According to the official, things at CFM need to change, people must receive their salaries, and the government will support the new director, so that he can handle the matters.
"We ruled to provide them with diesel from the state reserve for the next four months, as we understand that CFM’s goal is freight transport; financial resources are very limited and the government wants the enterprise to be operational," Bolea said.
