World Bank grants Moldova over 90 million euros for economic development and climate transition
The World Bank will provide Moldova with over 90 million euros to support economic opportunities and climate transition. Members of the Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration approved reports for the ratification of two agreements concluded by our country with the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
Thus, the International Development Association will grant a loan of 46.3 million euros in the form of budgetary support, with a maturity of 25 years, including a five-year grace period. At the same time, the IBRD will offer a loan of 37 million euros and a grant of eight million dollars, with a maturity of up to 30 years, including a similar grace period.
The financing is conditioned on the implementation of 11 measures aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the private sector, developing employment capacity, access to quality education, strengthening energy security, and promoting climate-smart agriculture.
The funds will be used as part of Development policy operation for supporting economic opportunities and climate transition program.
