Parliament speaker says legislative body to have crucial role in coming years for bringing Moldova closer to European Union
The coming years will be decisive for the European path of Moldova and the legislature will have an essential mission in the process of harmonizing national legislation with the European Union’s one. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu made statements to this effect at a show aired on TVR Moldova show today evening.
"For the next four years, we have an enormous volume of work in approximating national legislation with the European one. We must understand the stakes are high and try to overcome doctrinal and geopolitical differences. I have called even on to the opposition, because such an opportunity rarely arises in a country's history," said Igor Grosu.
The parliament speaker emphasized that the authorities of Moldova bore a shared responsibility towards the citizens - to fulfill the commitments made in the process of European integration.
"Together, we have the duty to the people who have entrusted us: to be the generation that takes Moldova where it belongs to - in the European family," highlighted Igor Grosu.
The statements come in the context of boosting the pre-accession process and the preparations for the next stages of negotiations with the European Union, during which the parliament of Moldova will play a decisive role in adopting and implementing a normative framework compatible with the European standards.
