Moldova, Greece sign memorandum of understanding to strengthen economic cooperation under EU Growth Plan

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization (MDED) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Greece, in order to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in implementing the European Union Growth Plan for Moldova.

The document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor and the Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Theoharis Theoharis.

According to MDED, the memorandum outlines practical cooperation in more key areas, such as enhancing the institutional and administrative capacity of Moldova to apply the EU Growth Plan; leveraging Greece's expertise in the preparation and management of projects via the GrowthFund – Project Preparation Facility; increasing the ability to attract European funds and implementing priority projects for economic development.

“This agreement marks a new phase in the relations between Moldova and Greece and provides economic support in implementing the EU Growth Plan. By benefiting from Greece's expertise in preparing and executing major investment projects, Moldova will be able to accelerate reforms, attract more European funds, and deliver tangible benefits to citizens and the business community. Together with our European partners, we are building a stronger, more competitive economy that is closer to the European Union,” said Doina Nistor.

The memorandum, valid for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of automatic extension, will guide cooperation between the two nations in strategic sectors for economic modernization and bringing Moldova closer to European standards.
