VIDEO // Message from EU Ambassador to Chișinău

European Union Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Iwona Piórko who recently began her mandate has sent a video message to the country’s citizens, posted on social media. The diplomat emphasized her arrival in Moldova at a crucial moment in history and promised to visit all localities to support the communities. Iwona Piórko reaffirmed the EU's commitment to Moldova's European path, assuring that our country will become part of the European Union.

'Since my arrival two weeks ago, I have felt the warmth of the people and the richness of your culture. I have arrived at a crucial moment in our shared history, and the European Union is by your side. I am here to listen to you and to build a relationship of trust. I will visit every corner of the country to understand better how we can help your communities. I am originally from Poland and have witnessed the transformations that the European Union has brought into everyday life. With determination and unity, Moldova will become part of the European Union, and we are here to support you. Together in the European Union!' – Iwona Piórko.

 

Iwona Piórko has over two decades of experience in European Union institutions. Her mandate as ambassador to the Republic of Moldova officially began after presenting her letters of accreditation to President Maia Sandu, on September 5 or 6, 2025.

Throughout her career, Piórko has held key positions within the EU, being a member of the cabinets of the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, Štefan Füle, and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini. She also led International Affairs Units within the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs and, since 2021, served as EU ambassador to Singapore.
