BTA: Bozhidar Saraboyukov Wins Long Jump Bronze at Diamond League in Xiamen

Bulgarian athlete Bozhidar Saraboyukov won the bronze medal in the long jump at the second event of the 2026 Diamond League season in Xiamen, China.

The reigning European indoor long jump champion from 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships secured his podium finish with a jump of 8.29 metres on his very first attempt. Saraboyukov recorded only one more valid jump, measuring 8.12 metres, while his remaining four attempts were fouls.

The Bulgarian national record holder in the discipline had opened his outdoor season with a second-place finish at the opening Diamond League meeting in Shanghai on May 16, where he jumped 8.07 metres.

The competition in Xiamen was won by Miltiadis Tentoglou, the two-time Olympic gold medallist from 2020 Summer Olympics and 2024 Summer Olympics, as well as world champion from 2023 World Athletics Championships. Tentoglou set a new meeting record of 8.46 metres after taking only three jumps.

Second place went to Tajay Gayle, the 2019 world champion from 2019 World Athletics Championships and silver medallist from Tokyo 2025, with a jump of 8.32 metres.

Current world champion Mattia Furlani finished fourth with 8.28 metres. The Italian suffered a hamstring injury during his fourth attempt and was unable to continue competing.

Saraboyukov is also confirmed to compete in four more Diamond League events this season: in Rome on June 4, Monte Carlo on July 10, Lausanne on August 21, and Zurich on August 27.
