Moldovan PM has meeting with European Commission’s Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations
The economic priorities of the new government, the implementation of the Growth Plan for Moldova and the reform agenda necessary for advancing the accession negotiations with the European Union have been discussed at meeting between Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and European Commission’s Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman.
The PM emphasized that the government’s goal was to relaunch the economy by stimulating investments, making effective use of the opportunities offered by the Growth Plan and accelerating reforms that will contribute to economic development and the country’s integration into the European Union.
One of the topics discussed was the implementation of the 2025–2027 Reform Agenda and the preparation of the next stage of fulfilling the commitments undertaken. Moldova has fulfilled 18 of the 20 commitments set for the first half of 2026. If the evaluation by the European Commission is positive, our country next in September will receive a new installment of 157 million euros from the Growth Plan.
In total, so far, Moldova has implemented 46 of the 48 actions under the 2025–2027 Reform Agenda, reaching an implementation level of 95 per cent – the highest among the beneficiary states of the European Union’s Reform and Growth Facility.
The officials noted that the next stage of implementing the Reform Agenda would be complex, given that 40 new measures are planned for the second half of 2026. In the context, joint commitment was reaffirmed to maintain the pace of reforms and to fully capitalize on the support provided by the European Union for modernizing the economy and improving citizens’ living standards.
