
I urge local authorities to take advantage of all investment opportunities for benefit of citizens - Moldovan PM says
Chisinau, March 25 / MOLDPRES /- Aspects on management of the refugee flow in Ukraine, the social support measures for different social categories, recently adopted by the Government, as well as the provisions of the new European Village program, launched this week were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and local public authorities from Causeni district. The official spoke about the government's efforts to manage the current situation in order to reduce the impact of the refugee crisis on local public authorities, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
"I want to thank you for putting your shoulder to the flow of refugees. I am proud that the international press no longer talks about us as the country where the billion was stolen, but as a small country, but which has a big heart and which has helped hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees ", said Natalia Gavrilița .
In this context, the mayors spoke about the spaces available for the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees and about the needs of refugees and their host families. APL representatives were urged to send information on the expenses associated with managing the refugee crisis to the e-mail address of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection cont.refugiati@social.gov.md so that the central public authorities can identify financing solutions to reimburse the expenses.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also spoke about the actions of the Executive, aimed at solving local problems, including the opportunities offered by the National Local Development Program European Village or modernization of water supply and sewerage systems for the renovation of kindergartens, schools, culture houses and other local infrastructure facilities, as well as proposals for local business development and energy efficiency and resources and co-financing. The program has allocated a budget of about 470 million lei for the improvement of the technical-municipal, social infrastructure and energy efficiency measures for the year 2022. Another 300 million lei are provided for the development of the regions.
"The government has taken an important step towards the sustainable development of localities and ensuring citizens' access to quality public services and social infrastructure. The next step is for the town halls. I urge you to take advantage of the investment opportunities made available to local public authorities for the benefit of the citizens. We need to focus on energy efficient projects and thermal insulation of buildings. We will find and direct funds for these absolutely priority projects. In the next period we will work hard, so that in winter it will be much easier for us, and the bills will be lower ", mentioned Gavrilița.
In turn, the mayors present at the meeting spoke about the problems faced by the localities they lead. Among the problems listed were the subject of payments for special purposes, the need to rebuild local infrastructure - bridges and roads, drinking water supply and street lighting.
The Prime Minister also referred to the Government's measures to support economic agents in this difficult period, such as the redirection of goods to Moldova from the port of Constanța, reorientation to new markets, talks with the EU to eliminate export quotas.
