Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration has meeting with special envoy of Ukraine's Foreign Affairs Ministry

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri today had a meeting with Special Envoy of Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, H.E. Marko Shevchenko, Kyiv’s representative in the negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement. The diplomat was accompanied by Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Paun Rohovei.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current situation of the Transnistrian file, developments in the region, as well as Chisinau’s views on resolving the existing problems, with a view to fostering reintegration policies aimed at bringing closer the two banks of Dniester River.

At the same time, the two officials reviewed the state and prospects of the bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic interaction and capitalizing on the present potential within the framework of the Moldovan-Ukrainian Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation.

Ambassador Marko Shevchenko reiterated Ukraine’s firm support for a comprehensive, peaceful and lasting settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, while advancing towards the fulfillment of the country’s strategic objective of European integration.
