In 2026, most nursery places in recent years to be created across country: 102 town halls applied for funding
102 town halls have applied for funding under the third edition of the national program Employed Parents – Children in Nursery. Thus, this year will see the largest investments in public nurseries in the Republic of Moldova in recent years.
Project budgets will range between 1.5 and 10 million lei per project, with total investments amounting to 136.6 million lei in 2026.
Local public authorities of the first level with a population of over 3,000 inhabitants, as well as the municipalities of Chișinău and Bălți have registered for the program. It was possible to submit applications for several kindergartens through separate funding requests. The applications are currently being processed and the eligibility of the projects is being determined.
For the expansion of nurseries in 2026–2027, the Government will allocate a total of 385.7 million lei – 136.6 million lei this year and 249.1 million lei in 2027. In 2025, 241 new places were created, and for the coming years 5,000 new nursery places are planned, by expanding existing groups and creating new groups, including the construction of annexes.
The National Program Public nursery services – employed parents, children in nursery is part of the Reform Agenda of the Growth Plan of the Republic of Moldova for 2025–2027. The program supports work–life balance by helping parents return to the labor market.
