Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania
During a working visit to Bucharest, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Oana Țoiu on 9 March.
The discussions focused on recent developments in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, as well as on cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania in support of strengthening regional stability and security.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Romania’s constant support for the Republic of Moldova, including in promoting its European path, strengthening institutional resilience, and supporting development projects.
A distinct topic of the discussions concerned the education, focusing on the importance of Romania’s support for the development of the educational system in the Republic of Moldova, including for educational institutions in the Transnistrian region that contribute to maintaining and promoting Romanian linguistic and cultural identity in the uncontrolled area.
The officials also exchanged views on the current situation in the Transnistrian region and the need to maintain a coordinated approach at regional and international levels in order to advance the peaceful settlement process, in line with the principles of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reiterated the willingness to continue dialogue and cooperation in order to deepen bilateral relations and identify sustainable solutions for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.
