The agricultural sector of Moldova today marked the official opening of the 47th edition of the International Specialized Exhibition, Moldagrotech, one of the most important agriculture-focused events of the country. The event is taking place at the Moldexpo International Exhibition Center and brings together over one hundred companies and organizations from the agricultural sector, offering farmers access to the latest technologies and solutions for developing the industry.

The main goal of the event is to connect farmers with producers and distributors of modern equipment, facilitate dialogue between authorities, the business community and farmers and enhance the competitiveness of national agriculture at the start of the spring agricultural season.

International participation and modern technologies

This year’s edition is organized in partnership with the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA) and benefits from the financial support of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA). The exhibition hosts companies and producers from Moldova, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine and Hungary.

In addition to the main exhibition dedicated to agricultural machinery and equipment, visitors can also explore a large fair of seed material, where varieties and modern technologies for agricultural crops are presented.

The organizers highlight that an important indicator of market’s evolution is the growing interest in the event. Approximately 20 per cent of the exhibitors present at this year’s edition are participating for the first time, showing the continuous development of the agricultural sector and the interest of international companies in the Moldovan market.

Authorities rely on innovation and technologization

Present at the opening ceremony, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Ludmila Catlabuga emphasized the role of the exhibition platform in modernizing agriculture and facilitating farmers’ access to innovative technologies.

According to her, the event gives farmers the opportunity to discover solutions that can streamline production processes and increase the economic performance of farms.

“This platform is the place where all equipment distributors meet, with innovations and new technologies that our farmers need, in order to streamline their processes and achieve that economic performance. We will continue to stand by them in developing the sector,” the minister said.

At the same time, the official noted that, in recent periods, the authorities had implemented more mechanisms to support farmers, including measures to ensure the liquidity needed for agricultural activities. Among them, there are the reimbursement of excise duties on diesel fuel and the optimization of the process of refunding the value added tax (VAT) for agricultural producers.

Financial support for farmers’ investments

The financial system also plays an important role in the development of the agricultural sector. MAIB Commercial Bank, the general partner of the event, reaffirmed its support for agricultural producers, noting that approximately every second farmer of Moldova works with the financial institution.

Bank representatives stressed that, in the context of challenges triggered by climate change and economic fluctuations, investments in modern technologies become essential for maintaining farmers’ competitiveness.

“We believe it is our duty to contribute to the promotion of technologies and innovations that help farmers make their activity more efficient and get the highest profitability possible. This spring we are focusing on promoting more favorable conditions in terms of prices and access to loans,” said Vadim Culea, Head of the Business Banking Sales Department at MAIB.

According to him, the financial institution promotes lending products tailored to the needs of the agricultural sector, meant to support investments in modern equipment and technologies that increase farm resilience to increasingly unpredictable climatic conditions.

Dialogue and cooperation for agricultural development

The exhibition’s organizers believe that the success of the agricultural sector depends on cooperation between authorities, the business environment and farmers. General Director of the Moldexpo International Exhibition Center Zinaida Popa highlighted the importance of the dialogue and collaboration in overcoming the challenges facing the industry.

“We want this platform to bring only success, because when there is unity and dialogue between the central public authority, economic agents, distributors and farmers, there is success. This event proves our unity in making agriculture more efficient in Moldova,” said Zinaida Popa.

Strategic platform for agricultural development

The Moldagrotech International Specialized Exhibition is the largest event dedicated to agricultural technologies in Moldova and has a tradition of almost half a century. Over time, it has established itself as an essential platform for showcasing state-of-the-art machinery, building commercial partnerships and promoting modern farming practices.

The event marks the beginning of the spring and autumn agricultural seasons each year, offering farmers the opportunity to discover technological innovations, solutions for increasing productivity and models for sustainable agricultural development. By bringing together producers, distributors and experts in the field, Moldagrotech directly contributes to the modernization and strengthening of Moldova’s agro-industrial sector.
