Support for EU accession: parliamentary commissions of Moldova, Romania to convene in Chisinau

Moldova’s parliament Moldova on March 13 will host a joint meeting of the committee for European integration of the Moldovan legislative body and the European affairs committees of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of Romania.

The delegation of the Romanian Senate will be led by the chair of the committee, Rodica Cusnir, while the delegation of the Chamber of Deputies will be headed by the vice chair of the committee, Mirela Furtună.

The agenda of the meeting includes: parliamentary cooperation in the process of Moldova’s European integration, exchange of best practices on aligning national legislation with the EU acquis and the support provided by Romania for Moldova’s European path. At the end, the chairs of the committees will make press statements.

During the visit, the delegation of the Romanian Parliament will also hold meetings with members of the commission for national security, defense and public order, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and  Governor of the National Bank of Moldova Anca Dragu.

The last joint meeting took place in Bucharest in November 2025, where the foreign policy committees adopted a declaration calling for the opening of the accession negotiations between Moldova and the EU.
