
CEC: 12 candidates for mayoral position and 78 for local councils enter race for new local elections
The local electoral constituency commissions have completed examining the applications submitted for the new local elections scheduled for 16 November 2025, and have registered 12 candidates for the position of mayor and 78 candidates for local councils, including 38 women and 40 men.
According to the CEC, among the 12 candidates for mayor, three are women and nine are men; two are running independently, while ten represent political parties.
The mayoral candidates are distributed as follows: village Bașcalia, Basarabeasca district – one candidate; commune Călinești, Fălești district – three candidates; commune Natalievca, Fălești district – two candidates; village Ustia, Glodeni district – two candidates; city Leova, Leova district – two candidates; commune Cremenciug, Soroca district – two candidates.
For the position of local councilor, the lists have been submitted as follows: commune Călinești, Fălești district – three political formations and two independent candidates; city Leova, Leova district – two political formations.
On 16 November, new local elections will take place in the following locations: village Bașcalia, Basarabeasca district; commune Călinești, Fălești district; commune Natalievca, Fălești district; village Ustia, Glodeni district; city Leova, Leova district; commune Cremenciug, Soroca district.
