Foreign Affairs Ministry transfers 43 diplomatic files from Soviet Era to National Archive of Moldova
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi and the director of the National Archive Agency, Igor Casu, today signed the delivery-receipt protocol of 43 archival files, covering the period 1955–1991.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), the files, which contain essential documents regarding diplomatic and institutional activity from the Soviet Era, have been transferred from the ministry's management to the National Archive Agency. These will be safely preserved and made available to researchers and the public interested.
“Preserving institutional memory is essential in order to better understand our historical and diplomatic journey. Through this action, we reaffirm our commitment to protect and turn to good account documents that speak of our past and contribute to the consolidation of our identity,” said Popsoi.
The cited source also said that this action represented an important step towards free access to the diplomatic history of Moldova.
