Moldova's National Anticorruption Centre has new deputy director: Serghei Carapunarli, appointed by parliament

The parliament has appointed Serghei Carapunarli as the deputy director of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA). The decision was approved with the votes of 54 MPs.

Serghei Carapunarli has over 25 years of professional experience in combating corruption and economic crime. He started his career in 1999 at the Territorial Financial Guard of the State Tax Inspectorate from Causeni. Since 2002, Carapunarli has worked in the state's anticorruption structures—first at the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption, and later at the National Anticorruption Center.

Presently, Serghei Carapunarli is the head of the International Cooperation, Secretariat and Archive Division of CNA’s Agency for the Recovery of Criminal Assets (ARBI).

According to the legislation, the CNA’s leadership is made up of one director and two deputies, who are appointed by parliament upon the director's proposal, for the duration of his mandate.
