Honorary Consulate of Moldova inaugurated in Kingdom of the Netherlands

An Honorary Consulate of Moldova today was inaugurated in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with its headquarters in Heiloo. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu attended the event.

The speaker emphasized that, through this consulate, the authorities aimed to more strongly promote the country’s culture, traditions and local products on the Dutch market.

‘’Today, in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, I attended the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Moldova in Heiloo - proof that we have managed to build a solid partnership with the local authorities here. I wished much success to the honorary consul, Vera Stupenea, born in Chisinau and settled in the Netherlands for 28 years. She is the author of several school textbooks and an active promoter of Moldovan values. I also had the pleasure of meeting the grandchildren of the late writer Spiridon Vangheli - Ștefan, Viorel, and Cristina - who live here, in the Netherlands. It was an honor to give them the first copy of the book 'Guguță', translated for the first time into Dutch,’’ said Igor Grosu.

The official also said that the authorities would continue to expand the consular network, ‘’so that each Moldovan, wherever he/she is, feels close to home.’’

At the same time, Moldovans settled in the Netherlands were invited to attend a discussion with Speaker Igor Grosu starting from 18:30 today. The meeting will take place at the Embassy of Moldova. Lawmaker Eugeniu Sinchevici, the head of the parliament’s group of friendship with the Netherlands, is also expected to participate in the discussions.

During his visit, Speaker Igor Grosu has also scheduled a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Marcin Czepelak.
