Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued travel alert to Russian Federation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow recommend citizens avoid non-essential travel to the Russian Federation.
The warning comes "in the context of the worsening security situation in the region, as well as following the observation of cases where the Russian Federation authorities have applied coercive measures against foreign immigrants, including from the Republic of Moldova", announced MAE today.
The reported actions include: detention at the border crossing or during raids on Russian Federation territory; arbitrary application of legislation; transfer to pre-trial detention centers, including in the Multifunctional Migration Center; administrative sanctions or criminal charges without conclusive evidence; risk of harassment or wrongful detention by law enforcement bodies.
Citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are in the Russian Federation and face an emergency can call the hot line of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow at the phone number: +7 929 964 9079.
