Marculesti International Airport to be modernized, to operate seasonal passenger, cargo flights
The Marculesti International Airport is set to be modernized and equipped with the necessary infrastructure, in order to operate both national and international passenger flights, as well as cargo transport. The government has approved a draft to this effect.
The draft provides for the switching of the management of the Marculesti airport to the Chisinau International Airport company, which will enable more efficient coordination of activities and bigger investments in the modernization of the airport infrastructure.
Thus, it will be possible to transform Marculesti Airport into a modern and competitive aeronautical hub, with the potential to become an attraction for investors and a platform for new business opportunities. At the same time, it will support the integration of Moldova into the international air transport networks.
“Infrastructure is what makes economic development and productivity growth in the economy possible,” emphasized Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The development of the Marculesti International Airport in the northern region of the country will boost the development of the entire area, creating new jobs, as well as facilities for travelers, in the context of the increasing demand for air transport services in Moldova.
The Marculesti International Airport is placed 150 km far from Chișinău and its runway is operational.
