Prime Minister and Austrian Chancellor discuss Moldovan-Austrian cooperation in Dubrovnik

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu had a meeting in Dubrovnik with Federal Chancellor of Austria Christian Stocker, during which the officials discussed deepening bilateral cooperation and the country’s European path.

“In Dubrovnik, I had a productive discussion with the Federal Chancellor of Austria, Christian Stocker, about how we can deepen cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Austria,” said Alexandru Munteanu.

He mentioned that during the talks he expressed appreciation for the constant support provided by Austria.

“We discussed our European path and I expressed appreciation for Austria’s steady support – a partner that has stood by us through concrete projects that improve people’s lives, from infrastructure and energy to education and local development,” the Prime Minister said.

At the same time, the official emphasized the need to make more efficient use of bilateral economic relations.

“We want to better harness the economic potential of our relationship through investments and trade exchanges that bring real benefits to citizens. Austria remains a reliable partner, and our dialogue continues with the same openness and results-oriented approach,” added Munteanu.

The Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Austria established diplomatic relations on 25 March 1992.

Munteanu is paying a working visit to Dubrovnik, Croatia, on 27–29 April 2026, where he is taking part in the 11th edition of Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit.

The event brings together political leaders, international financial institutions and strategic partners from Europe and the United States of America, and is dedicated to the development of transport, energy and digital infrastructure in the region between the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea and the Adriatic Sea.
