DOC // State of emergency in energy sector ends in Moldova
Chisinau, April 25 – The state of emergency in the energy sector ends starting from April 25, after the parliament adopted a decision to this effect at the proposal of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. The document today published in the Official Journal.
According to the decision, the authorities found out that it is no longer necessary to maintain an enhanced response to the energy crisis, based on the report presented by the National Crisis Management Center. Thus, the state of emergency, previously established by Parliament Decision No. 38/2026, has been officially terminated.
Under the document, the government is required to continue the necessary measures to ensure that Moldova is supplied with energy resources and to maintain the operation of the national power system, in order to protect energy security and consumers’ interests.
At the same time, the parliament will inform, within three days, the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe about the termination of the state of emergency and the full resumption of the application of international commitments.
The decision enters into force on April 25, 2026, and the previous act establishing the state of emergency is repealed.
The parliament declared the state of emergency in the energy sector for a period of 60 days, starting March 25, 2026. The decision was taken after the Vulcanesti–Isaccea power line, the country’s main supply source, had been disconnected following Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
