Moldovan PM proposes appointment of Dorin Junghietu as energy minister

Prime Minister Dorin Recean today proposed to President Maia Sandu the appointment of Dorin Junghietu to the office of energy minister.

„An expert in the gas and energy field, with an international professional experience of over 16 years in the coordination and implementation of major projects in the energy sector, Mr. Junghietu has a complicated responsibility to manage this strategic field,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.

The official nominated the principal priorities till the end of this year.

„Strengthening of the country’s energy security, so that we have stability and predictability in the delivery of gas and electric energy, as well as the most advantageous tariffs. Making proper order and speeding up big investment projects – the ones in the renewable energy sector, energy optimization and, in particular, the finishing of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line according to terms,’’ Dorin Recean stressed.

Dorin Junghietu in last autumn won the contest for the position of president of the Moldovagaz administrative board; yet, Gazprom has not approved this change so far.

„I am sure that, in these conditions, it is more useful for us to benefit from the experience of Mr. Junghietu in his capacity of minister,’’ Dorin Recean said.

The office of energy minister remained vacant, after, in early last December, Prime Minister Dorin Recean asked for the resignations of Energy Minister Victor Parlicov, the director general of the Energocom Company, Victor Binzari, and a member of the council of observers of Moldovagaz, Sergiu Tofilat, in the context of the procurements of natural gas for the cold season.
