Transnistrian settlement discussed with French officials

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian held a meeting on Monday with Ambassador for Eastern Partnership and Black Sea of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Michael Roux. French Ambassador to Moldova Dominique Waag attended the event.

According to the Reintegration Policy Office, the discussions focused on the Transnistrian conflict settlement and the current challenges on both banks of the Dniester.

Serebrian reiterated Chisinau's priorities in promoting reintegration policies and drew attention to the blockade imposed by Tiraspol, which continues to boycott the dialogue in the 1+1 format and the activity of the sectoral working groups.

The official also addressed last winter's energy crisis, emphasizing that Chisinau authorities intervened quickly to mitigate the negative effects on the population in the eastern districts, caused by the unilateral decision of the Russian supplier Gazprom.

He thanked the European partners for the financial, logistical and political support, highlighting that a sustainable solution for the region's energy security is the acceptance of the help offered by Chisinau and the European Union.

At the end of the meeting, Serebrian expressed gratitude to the French authorities for their consistent support in the efforts towards reintegration of the country and the European path of the Republic of Moldova, appreciating the strategic partnership with France as essential for strengthening national sovereignty and regional stability.
