Medical first at Bălți Clinical Hospital: 50-year-old patient undergoes surgery for malignant pancreatic tumor

A complex surgical procedure, performed for the first time at Bălți Clinical Hospital, was successfully carried out on a 50-year-old patient diagnosed with a malignant pancreatic tumor. The operation was performed through the collaboration of a team of doctors from Chișinău and Bălți.

According to the administration of Bălți Hospital, the patient sought medical attention after experiencing progressive abdominal pain that had persisted for approximately six months. Following investigations, including a computed tomography scan, the diagnosis of a malignant pancreatic tumor was confirmed.

To treat the condition, the doctors decided to perform radical surgery, involving corporocaudal resection of the pancreas en bloc with splenectomy, regional lymph node dissection, and cholecystectomy.

The operation was performed by a team consisting of Adrian Hotineanu, Grigore Ivancov, and Sergiu Levința, as well as anesthesiologist and intensive care physician Serghei Pcela.

The patient's postoperative progress is favorable, and she is recovering under the supervision of the medical team.

Institution representatives note that the procedure marks a new step in the development of the hospital's medical services and surgical capabilities.
