Over 2,400 students from 31 countries admitted to Moldova’s universities
Higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova have admitted 2,433 foreign students for the current academic year, 122 more than last year, when 2,311 young people enrolled.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), 1,469 of the students admitted this year enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs, while 964 enrolled in master’s programs. The young people come from 31 countries, primarily Romania, Ukraine, India, and Israel. Universities across the country also host students from Tunisia, the United States, China, Sweden, Türkiye, Denmark, and Azerbaijan.
The largest number of foreign students chose the Free International University of Moldova, Ion Creangă State Pedagogical University, the Technical University of Moldova, Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Moldova State University.
Among the most sought-after fields of study are Psychology, Law, Medicine, Preschool Education, and Dentistry. Students also opted for programs in economics, education, information and communications technology, engineering, architecture, and construction.
According to the MEC, more than 600 million lei has been invested in university infrastructure over the past five years. At the same time, with the support of the World Bank, approximately one million euros was allocated through the Higher Education in Moldova project to support the internationalization of studies.
The resources were used to modernize and internationally accredit study programs, develop teachers’ abilities to teach in English, create the studyin.md platform, and promote study opportunities in the Republic of Moldova, including through a campaign conducted in India.
