Gagauzia elections: November 5 deadline for submitting applications to authorize opinion polls
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has said that November 5 is the deadline for submitting applications to authorize opinion polls on voters’ political preferences at the regional elections scheduled for November 15.
According to the Commission, applications for the authorization of exit polls and the registration of interview operators may be submitted no later than November 8.
“The results of opinion polls authorized by the CEC may be published no later than November 13, two days before the election. On election day, until 21:00, the publication of the results of any opinion polls concerning voters’ political preferences is prohibited. After that time, only the results of exit polls and after-polls may be made public, along with the results of opinion polls that were presented to the public before election day,” the CEC emphasized.
The elections for the position of governor (bashkan) of Gagauzia and for the 35 seats in the autonomy’s People’s Assembly (local legislative body) will take place on November 15. Eight candidates have been registered for the position of bashkan and 135 people are competing for seats as deputies. The election will be held at 67 polling stations across 35 single-member electoral constituencies. The electoral campaign started on October 16 and will end on November 13.
