Moldovan President's Scholarship awarded to more young people studying at universities, colleges; government approves list of beneficiaries

A number of 15 young people studying in universities and colleges this year will receive the Presidential Scholarship of Moldova. The list of beneficiaries was approved today by the government today.

Thus, 10 university students will receive a monthly scholarship of 3,860 lei. At the same time, another five young people studying in post-secondary and non-tertiary post-secondary technical vocational institutions will benefit from a monthly scholarship of 2,995 lei.

“All the nominated students have proved outstanding academic achievements and have distinguished themselves through participating with works at national and international scientific conferences, congresses, symposiums, academic mobility programmes, national and international contests, cultural events and volunteering activities,” said Galina Rusu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Research, at the cabinet meeting.

According to the explanatory note to the decision approved by the government, the monthly budget for the Presidential Scholarship allocated for ten students from higher education is 38,600 lei; at the same time; the sum is 14,957 lei for five pupils from post-secondary and non-tertiary post-secondary technical vocational institutions. The overall budget required for one academic year is 535,750 lei.

Twenty applications were submitted by students from higher education institutions and 45 applications by students from post-secondary and non-tertiary post-secondary technical vocational institutions for the Presidential Scholarship of Moldova in the 2025-2026 academic year. The candidates were selected based on certain criteria, including grade averages, educational, cultural and sports activities in which they have participated, Curriculum Vitae, scientific activity, publications, and letters of recommendation.

In the last spring, the government approved a decision to increase the monthly amount of the Presidential Scholarship to 3,860 lei for higher education and 2,995 lei for post-secondary and non-tertiary post-secondary technical vocational education.
