Moldova to build multimodal freight terminal under EU's TEN-T Action Plan

The Republic of Moldova will have for the first time a multimodal freight terminal in Chisinau, recognized as one of the flagship projects of the Eastern Partnership and included in the European Union's TEN-T Action Plan, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR).

The new logistics hub aims to strengthen the country's role in regional supply chains by connecting road, rail, and maritime transport in a single modern center. The project is considered a strategic opportunity for economic development and for integrating the Republic of Moldova into the European transport and trade market.

"Among the major benefits of the future terminal are the increase in Moldova's logistics capacity; the facilitation of rapid and advantageous access for exporters to EU markets; the stimulation of regional trade and diversification of transport routes. Currently, the feasibility study is underway, conducted with the support of the EPIC Facility, funded by the European Union, in cooperation with the authorities of the Republic of Moldova," explains MIDR.

The project is part of efforts to modernize transport infrastructure and integrate the Republic of Moldova into European mobility corridors, with a direct impact on economic competitiveness and regional connectivity.
