More courts of Moldova to have new buildings; Palace of Justice planned to be built in Cahul

More courts from Orhei, Cahul, Causeni and Edinet will have new buildings, after feasibility studies for these projects have been completed. The projects are part of the Plan for constructing new buildings and/or renovating existing ones, within the implementation of the Law on the reorganization of courts.

According to the Justice Ministry, the projects aim to replace outdated infrastructure with modern buildings, adapted to current requirements for the administration of justice. For the court in Orhei, immediately after the feasibility study was approved, services were contracted for the preparation of project documentation. Similar procedures are to be launched for the projects in Causeni and Cahul.

Representatives of the Agency for Digitalization in Justice and Judicial Administration (ADJAJ) specified that the construction of the new buildings involved complex technical and administrative stages, including planning, expertise and coordination between authorities. In 2026, the institution will initiate feasibility studies for the courts of Drochia and Hancesti, while in other localities procedures for land allocation are underway.

At the same time, in Cahul, the construction of a Palace of Justice is planned, which will bring together the Cahul District Court and the Southern Court of Appeal in one building. The project represents a new form of organizing judicial infrastructure in the southern region.

The authorities say that the new building will provide courtrooms that meet current standards, adequate spaces for citizens and legal professionals, as well as improved conditions for conducting judicial proceedings.

The main goal of these investments is to improve the conditions under which justice is administered and to create a modern, functional and sustainable infrastructure, adapted to the real needs of the judicial system and of court users.
