PHOTO // Denim Day international campaign campaign; Moldovan Labour Ministry's employees stand in solidarity with violence victims

Employees of the Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MMPS) are wearing jeans today – a symbol of solidarity and civic engagement. The action takes place in the context of the Denim Day international campaign, which supports victims of sexual violence.

Employees wore jeans as a sign of solidarity and support for efforts to combat stereotypes and stigma.

“It is important to continue to talk about sexual violence, to educate and to develop a culture of respect and protection for each person,” said Labour and Social Protection Minister Natalia Plugaru.

Every year, on the last Wednesday of April, Denim Day is marked, during which wearing jeans becomes a gesture of support for victims of sexual violence and of affirmation of social solidarity.

People who need support can access the available resources at https://www.eviolenta.md/ or can call the free Women and Girls Trust Line – 0 8008 8008.
