Prime Minister’s message on World Press Freedom Day
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today delivered a message of congratulations and reflection on World Press Freedom Day, honoring those who choose to serve the truth every day. He highlighted the fundamental value of independent journalism, referring to the importance of accurate information in building a resilient society.
The Prime Minister evoked difficult periods when access to truthful information was limited, recalling that citizens were forced to seek the truth beyond the barriers of official propaganda.
In this context, Alexandru Munteanu underlined several essential points about the role of the media.
"We have lived through times when accurate information did not come from home, but had to be sought beyond official propaganda. That is precisely why we know how valuable a free press is. A free press is not a luxury. It is a condition for democracy. Journalists do more than inform. They help society understand, discern and form clear reference points. They have an essential role in educating the public and in consolidating a healthy state. Happy World Press Freedom Day to all those who defend the truth!", the Prime Minister stressed.
The Prime Minister’s message concluded with a tribute to all those who, through their professional activity, protect freedom of expression and people’s right to be correctly informed. The Premier reiterated that quality journalism is an indispensable element for transparent governance and an informed society.
