Moldovan Interior Ministry has new secretary general

The Interior Ministry (MAI) has a new Secretary General starting from April 30, 2026. The position will be held by Valentin Cioclea for the duration of the suspension of the employment relations of the position’s current holder.

The appointment proposal today was presented at the government meeting by Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin, citing his professional experience in the internal affairs sector.

“Valentin Cioclea has approximately 20 years of activity in the internal affairs system. He has held managerial positions within operational management structures, where he was involved in coordinating institutional processes, developing and implementing operational plans, as well as in developing standard operating procedures. In addition, Cioclea contributed to the development and implementation of more strategic documents, including the National Security Strategy and sectoral strategies in the field of public order and border management,” the minister said.

According to the official, his experience reflects an in-depth understanding of the processes within the Interior Ministry and the public sector.
