New facilities for families: Extended paternity leave for fathers with twins or adopted children
Fathers who become parents of twins or multiple children from a single pregnancy, as well as those who adopt multiple children, could benefit from extended paternity leave and related allowances. The initiative from the PAS faction was examined today by the members of the Social Protection, Health, and Family Committee.
The project stipulates that, in the event of the birth of twins or multiple children from a single pregnancy, fathers will be entitled to paternity leave of up to 15 calendar days for each child. The same provisions apply in the case of multiple adoptions. Fathers will also have the right to a separate paternity allowance for each child.
According to the authors, the measure aims to promote gender equality in parental responsibilities and support large families by aligning with international standards.
The initiative also emphasizes the importance of supporting the mother in the postnatal period, to prevent parental burnout.
Recently, authorities announced several measures to support families with children, including Easter and school assistance.
