Spokesman's reaction to government protests
Government will continue to act with prudence and responsibility in the interest of citizens and to strengthen a European future, where no one can decide in place of the people living in the Republic of Moldova. Government spokesman Daniel Vodă made the statement in the context of today's protests at the government. He pointed out that these are orchestrated from outside and assured that such actions will not prevent the government from taking care of citizens and continuing the European path.
Daniel Vodă noted that the protests promote false slogans and are organized at the "indication including from outside sponsors who do not want the development of our country".
"We announce citizens to prepare for the season of various political protests. This season begins when the truth hurts, in many cases. While some people enjoy peace, freedom, democracy, a few try to stir fear, distrust, and division. It's not actually an accident, it's an old play that we know, resumed at the indication including from outside sponsors who do not want the development of our country. Just today, in front of the Government, we had such an example, there were fake slogans related to, so-called, I quote here, 'militarization actions at the expense of the social domain', in an event organized by a political party. Here I want to say upfront, because it's incredible that we have to do this, but because the protest season has started, we will defend the truth at all costs," said Daniel Vodă.
He emphasized that the government does not redirect money from children or the elderly, as falsely stated by protest participants, but ensures parallel investments in schools, roads, hospitals and development opportunities for the country.
Daniel Vodă highlighted that "those who shout today were silent when the pensions were absolutely shameful", and the authorities will clearly explain all the projects implemented in support of citizens and "will defend the truth at all costs".
"I want to remind those who have promoted falsehoods that the state offered Easter aid for families. Approximately 230,000 people benefited from financial support totaling 470 million lei. The payments allocated for pensions have almost doubled, with 15 billion lei more than three years ago. At that time, approximately 16 billion lei were allocated, now this figure rises to 30 billion lei. Those who shout today were silent when pensions were absolutely shameful," noted Daniel Vodă.
Another example provided by Daniel Vodă is that the budget for families and children was doubled in recent years. Thus, in 2021 the support for families was 2.8 billion lei, and in 2025 it reaches 4.8 billion lei, an increase of 2 billion lei over five years.
Daniel Vodă assured that the Government will continue to act with prudence, responsibility, and care, in the interest of citizens and to consolidate a European future, where no one can decide in our place, the people living in the Republic of Moldova.
"Unfortunately, propaganda is loud because the alternative is very poor. Protests do not stop and will not stop us from caring for the European path and caring for the citizens. Every time fake information or slogans aimed at dividing societal unity appears in the public space, we will not hesitate, we will come out and communicate up-to-date verified figures, official information, and we will actually defend the possibility for people to be informed from official sources and to have access to verified information," concluded Daniel Vodă.
A protest was organized today in front of the Government while the members of the Cabinet of Ministers were in session.
