Over 240 COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova last week; National Public Health Agency issues recommendations for residents

A number of 248 COVID-19 cases were registered in Moldova in the first week of August, compared to 116 cases in the previous week. Authorities recommend vaccination against COVID-19.

Olesea Croitor, the head of the Information and Communication Service of the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), has told MOLDPRES that, although there is an increase, the numbers did not point to an alarming situation. At the European level, data show variable trends between countries and regions. Most countries report a low number of tests and hospitalizations; yet, the sentinel surveillance system signals a steady increase in confirmed cases and the percentage of positive tests.

In the context of the summer season and enhanced population mobility, ANSP specialists recommend that citizens follow simple but effective measures: maintaining social distance, avoiding crowded places, observing the hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene, regularly ventilating closed spaces at the workplace and vaccination, including booster doses. At the same time, citizens are encouraged to monitor their health and seek information from official sources.
