PM at Diaspora Congress says government awaits all Moldovans home, to turn country's potential into reality

The government awaits all Moldovans home, in order to turn the country's potential into reality. Prime Minister Dorin Recean has made statements to this effect at the 11th edition of the Diaspora Congress, within the European Integration' panel, attended together with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

The PM urged citizens who want to contribute to the European integration process to employ at public institutions. Meanwhile, for the citizens of the Diaspora, there are programmes that provide logistical, informational and financial support for returning home and involvement in public institutions, civil society organizations, or private enterprises in Moldova.

‘’We are a big family, wherever we live, work, or study, but we need the experience, knowledge and energy of each citizen, especially on our path to EU membership,’’ emphasized the prime minister.

Asked about the priority sectors where the Diaspora could invest or start businesses, the PM said that, at present, Moldova was in a good period for investment in sectors such as IT, logistics, energy, pharmaceutical and electronics industries. The prime minister stressed that the government provides the necessary support for entrepreneurs.

At the same time, topics discussed with Diaspora citizens included: the Growth Plan for Moldova and the Reform Agenda, support programmes for citizens abroad, remuneration of public officials, energy efficiency and the dangers of misinformation and fake news.

Over 700 people attended the 11th edition of the Diaspora Congress. The event is a platform for strengthening ties between the government of Moldova and communities worldwide.
