
Moldovan government invests 2.5 billion lei for modernization of dozens of settlements from Moldova
Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Vladimir Bolea, at a today’s news conference, unveiled the results of the contest of proposals for regional development projects, the 2024 edition. Eighty seven projects on modernization of local and regional infrastructure will be financed with a sum estimated at 2.5 billion lei from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL) on the period 2025-2027.
According to the deputy PM, the selection process was competitive, or those 87 projects who got over 70 evaluation points were selected out of 205 conceptual notes submitted by district mayoralties and councils from all over Moldova. The investments regard such key sectors as supply with water and sanitation, urban infrastructure’s modernization, tourism’s development and backing the business environment.
According to the report presented, 47 projects will ensure the access to water and sewerage, 19 projects will enhance the country’s tourist attractiveness, 15 projects will transform cities through urban revitalization measures and six projects will receive investments to develop the business infrastructure.
„The National Council of Regional and Local Coordination and Development today approved the results of the competitive call, marking one more important step for the modernization and development of communities from all over the country. On the period 2025-2027, dozens of projects will be implemented in those five regions of Moldova, which will bring concrete and visible changes in people’s lives,’’ Vladimir Bolea said.
The projects selected have an extended regional impact, bringing visible improvements in tens of communities and contributing to the improvement of the quality of life for thousands of citizens.
North Development Region
Balti Municipality: completing the rehabilitation of the Gymnasium No 6, revitalization of the area of the rowing canal and extension of the aqueducts’ networks by 4.1 km. Additionally, 8 million lei was allocated for the rehabilitation of 2 km of the 31 August Street.
Soroca municipality: extension of the sewerage system by 17.7 km for 22,500 people.
Donduseni district: Extension of the sewerage network in the Donduseni town and restoration of the Pommer Mansion in the Taul village.
Glodeni and Falesti districts: Extension of the aqueducts’ networks by 42.5 km in nine settlements.
Sangerei district: Urban revitalization of the Sangerei town and extension of the aqueduct system in eight settlements.
Centru Development Region
Anenii Noi district: Construction of a water treatment station and extension of the aqueduct and sewerage networks for six settlements, benefitting about 10,000 people.
Hancesti district: Arrangement of seven tourist objects and of the leisure park in the meadow of the Cogalnic river.
Calarasi district: Development of tourism through the arrangement of three objects and modernization of 12 yards of blocks of flats in the Calarasi town.
Nisporeni district: Construction of a regional water treatment station and extension of the aqueducts network by 40 km in nine settlements.
Orhei district: Development of the Old Orhei Culture and Nature Reserve and the extension of the aqueducts’ network for about 40,900 people.
South Development Region
Cimislia town: Revitalization of the Community Centre and rehabilitation of 43 km of aqueducts’ network.
Cantemir district: Construction of an adventure park and extension of the aqueducts’ system for seven settlements.
Valeni village: Creation of a regional tourist hub through the renovation of three tourist objects.
Causeni district: Completing the extension of the sewerage network in the Causeni city and construction of 46 km of networks in another five settlements.
Stefan Voda town: Continuing the modernization of the residual waters’ treatment station.
Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia
Comrat municipality: Construction of a warehouse for packing with an area of over 3,000 square metres and reconstruction of 7.5 km of water distribution networks.
Vulcanesti town: Rehabilitation of about 45 km of water supply networks.
Ceadar-Lunga municipality: Implementation of two projects on urban revitalization and improvement of the water and sewerage supply system for about 16,000 residents.
Chisinau Municipality
Cruzesti, Budesti, Tohatin settlements: Extension of the sewerage networks by over 13 km.
Budesti village: Arrangement of a recreation area through the building of a regional sports hall with swimming pool.
Truseni commune: Capital repair of the access road, benefitting about 4,500 residents.
Bacioi commune: Starting the second phase of the projects of exterior networks of aqueducts and sewerage, including the water treatment station.
