VIDEO // Police urge citizens not to participate in iIllegal protest organized by criminal group Shor

Police urge citizens not to participate in the illegal protest organized by the criminal group SHOR. The law enforcement bodies warn that participants in the demonstration may become involved in committing crimes or offenses.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police (IGP), new methods have been implemented by the criminal organization to register participants in the protests to facilitate transfers via PSB.

"The so-called 'protest' organized at the request of the criminal organization's leader, Ilan Shor, is not authorized and does not have a designated location, as the two announced locations are designated for other activities. We urge all citizens to obey the law," emphasized the IGP.

The National Police requested on 12 August that the mayor of Chișinău refuse authorization for the protest organized by Ilan Shor. Thus, the forces have warned that the demonstration aims at "social-political destabilization of the Republic of Moldova and cannot be considered a peaceful demonstration, but rather an instrument of criminal influence."

Ilan Shor has repeatedly called on citizens to protest in the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) and incited civil disobedience. He also promised participants a sum of 3,000 dollars for setting up tents in PMAN.

The event is scheduled to take place on August 16. Additionally, on this day, the government plans to organize an exhibition, an action that is part of the series of events dedicated to Diaspora Days. According to municipal authorities, when there are multiple requests for organizing public events, the Government of the Republic of Moldova has priority.

Marin Garaz, chief of the Chișinău municipality police department, has proposed to the Chișinău City Hall to initiate the legal procedure to ban the protest actions organized in the city center by Ilan Shor, as "the actions are organized by criminal groups in exchange for financial remuneration, to provoke a violation of public order." On the other hand, representatives of the capital's city hall mentioned that "they will act if other competent institutions present additional evidence demonstrating the risks of these events."
