Over 8,700 state-funded places to be offered at universities in new academic year

Over 8,700 state-funded places will be offered at universities in the Republic of Moldova in the next academic year. This is stipulated in the state order for higher education, which was approved today by the Government.

The document includes 5,295 state-funded places for bachelor programs, 2,856 for master's and 435 for residency and clinical secondary studies. Additionally, 126 places are reserved for foreign citizens, based on bilateral agreements in the education and to encourage international students to continue the studies in the Republic of Moldova.

“This year we are offering 8,712 state-funded places. Traditionally, we prioritize, on one hand, educational sciences, and on the other hand, everything that encompasses new technologies, such as ICT, engineering, or professions of the future,” said Dan Perciun, Minister of Education and Research.

For the first time, this year state-funded places are provided for dual education, which combines university studies with practical experience in companies. They are reserved for domains such as: Journalism and Information, Economic Sciences, Information and Communication Technologies, Engineering and Engineering Activities, and Architecture and Construction.

Certain number of state-funded places will be offered for young people from families of Moldovan citizens settled abroad.

Admission to bachelor’s and integrated higher studies will be conducted in 25 general fields. The most state-funded places are reserved for the fields: Educational Sciences – 2,020 places (23%); Engineering, Manufacturing Technologies, Architecture, and Construction – 1,402 places (16.1%); Information and Communication Technologies – 905 (10.4%); Health – 950 (10.9%); Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary Medicine, Environment – 378 (4.3%).

As last year, applications for the admission contest will be submitted online, through the national platform eadmitere.gov.md.

Candidates may choose up to three universities, with up to three specializations at each. The contest is open to graduates with a high school diploma, professional studies diploma, or other formally recognized equivalent documents.
